GENERAL SUMMARY Responsible for assisting physician/provider with patient care, clerical, environmental and organizational tasks. SUPERVISON RECEIVER Reports to Administrator QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) Ability to maintain accurate records Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing Ability to utilize a computer Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work in fast-paced office with heavy telephone, talking, and frequent interruptions Ability to tactfully deal with patients who are ill an may have functional problems Ability to provide Excellent Customer Service High school graduate or equivalent Medical Assistant Certificate Knowledge of medical terminology required Prior medical assistant experience Pleasant personality for handling telephone and patient contact CPR Certification DUTIES Patient intake to include updating medication lists and relevant information on patients chart. Run daily controls following manufacture instructions and protocol document and master log. Communicates with physician/provider regarding all patient care. Input physician/provider plan of care and other medical information into system. Promotes wellness by providing patients education materials and communicating physician advice and instructions. Coordinates patient care by triaging patient phone calls and patients that walk-in, regarding urgency of care. Document conversation or evaluation on appropriate chart forms. Adheres to infection control and safety guidelines. Maintain the strictest patient and office confidentially. Assist with procedure and materials to physician/provider as directed. Prepare syringes and give injections or treatments. Maintain the exam rooms and procedure room clean and completely stocking periodically during the day and fully inspected and the end of each working day. The nurse that was taking care of the last patient is responsible to clean the room for the next patient. Prescriptions to be entered into system depending on physician/provider. Keep inventory and order medical supplies and materials. If a patient is being admitted to the hospital get all of the paperwork ready for the physician and patient. Call admitting department and make sure there is a bed available for patient and forms are faxed over or at least hand carried over by the patient. PHYSICIAL REQUIREMENTS Good physical stamina; must be able to be on feet most of the day. Must be able to squat and/or stop to lift at least 25-pounds. Sufficient arm, wrist, finger, and arm dexterity to type at the speed of 35 words per minute.
