# Scope of Job
To identify, assess, diagnose and provide psychological services to School of Medicine students who are experiencing academic difficulties and may be academically at risk.
# Description of Duties
* Evaluates, assesses and diagnoses and provides psychological services to School of Medicine RGV students who may be academically at risk.
* Meets regularly with students to evaluate and advise them on learning and study strategies.
* Reviews the results of the Learning Styles Inventory with students
* Provides strategies based upon student learning styles
* Assess and address possible learning disabilities
* Plans and facilitates study skills seminars and workshops.
* Manages and maintains student's records as deemed necessary.
* Collaborates with faculty to evaluate appropriate early intervention or remediation to students.
* Collaborates with the Office of Counseling and Wellness and community agencies as needed for follow up intervention and treatment
* Coordinates special educational development for School of Medicine students.
* Provides report of students' progress as deemed appropriate.
* Participates with School of Medicine faculty and staff to identify and make recommendations regarding services offered in support to students.
* Periodically reviews and evaluates the effectiveness of existing programs and services.
* Participates in Office of Student Affairs related activities including new student orientation and staff development.
* Responsible for planning and promoting academic support services to students.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
# Licenses/Certifications
Must be a licensed specialist in Educational Psychology or Behavioral Strategist in the State of Texas.
# Required Experience
Three (3) years of experience in assessing, evaluating and diagnosing learning strategies, and or mental health counseling in an educational environment. Familiarity with Learning Style Inventories or Assessment tolls and software.
# Working Conditions
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work is required. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
